How to Purchase CloudM Licenses

CloudM Partners can provision and manage licences for the entire CloudM product suite directly via the Partner Portal. This guide explains the procurement process for CloudM Migrate and our Google-exclusive SaaS Management modules.

1. Ordering via the Portal

  1. Log in to the CloudM Partner Portal.
  2. Navigate to Orders > Place an order/add licences.

    CloudM Portal Order Interface

  3. Select the product you wish to provision (e.g. CloudM Migrate).
  4. Enter the Destination Domain.
Note: licences are bound to this domain. For Domain Switch projects, use the domain that will be present in the destination tenant throughout the project.
  5. Select deployment option: CloudM Migrate Self-Hosted or CloudM Migrate Hosted.
  6. Select destination platform: Google or Microsoft.
Note: SaaS modules (Backup, Archive, Automate) are currently available for Google Workspace only.
  7. Configure Migrate source and destinations. The following are considered separate platforms and licences:
    • Google Workspace/Google Drive and Google Vault
    • Office 365/OneDrive for Business and Exchange Online Archive
    • If Microsoft is the source, three licence types are available:

2. Understanding CloudM Migrate licence classes

When purchasing CloudM Migrate, you must select a specific licence class. Ensure your choice aligns with your migration scope:

Licence class Best for Consumption rule
Google Workspace Users, Shared Drives, and Spaces Each licence supports users (all data types), Shared Drives (see Shared Data exception below), and Spaces.
Microsoft: Mail Only Email-only projects 1 licence per mailbox.
Microsoft: Unlimited Single User Standard user migrations 1 licence per user. Includes Mail, Drive/Files, Calendar, and Contacts.
Shared Data Shared Drives, SharePoint, or Teams 1 licence per 10GB (Google) or 100GB (SharePoint).

Example: Google Shared Drive migration

Scenario: you want to migrate 50 users, 50 Shared Drives (under 10GB each), and 1 Shared Drive (50GB total). You will need 105 licences in total.

  • 50 licences for the 50 users.
  • 50 licences for the 50 Shared Drives (1 licence per drive, as each is under 10GB).
  • 5 licences for the single 50GB Shared Drive (5 × 10GB increments).

3. Deployment options for CloudM Migrate

Hosted (SaaS)

Hosted licences are provisioned for use on our SaaS platform. Upon purchase, you will receive a unique migration URL. A standard Hosted licence supports all migration types (Mail, Drive, and Shared Data).

Self-Hosted (on-premise)

Self-hosted licences are issued as a Software Key, bound to the specific licence class selected at checkout. If you need to migrate both users and Shared Drives in a self-hosted environment, you will need to purchase the appropriate quantities of both Unlimited Single User and Shared Data classes.

Domain Switch projects

For Tenant-to-Tenant or Domain Switch projects, you do not need to purchase new Migrate licences when the primary domain changes. Refer to our Best Practice Guides for licence continuity guidance:

4. Purchasing CloudM Automate (Google Workspace only)

CloudM Automate is licensed on an annual, per-user subscription basis through the Partner Portal. A single tier subscription includes access to all modules — Workflows, Backup, Archive, and Email Signatures — from tier 2 (Essential) and above.

Licences are required only for the users and Shared Drives you intend to manage through CloudM Automate — not the full domain. For full details on how subscriptions are counted and reassigned, refer to the CloudM Automate Licensing Policy. For more details on what is included in each tier, please refer to the What's included in your CloudM Tier article.

Licence type Licensing basis Key licensing info
CloudM Automate tier subscription Per user or Shared Drive One licence per user or Shared Drive you intend to manage. Includes all modules at the purchased tier level. Purchase only the quantity needed — full domain purchase is not required.
CloudM Archive (additional) Per archived user Archive is licensed at tier pricing but requires an additional licence per archived user, purchased on top of the tier subscription. This applies because archived users remain managed through CloudM Automate even after leaving the organisation. The licence is consumed for as long as the archived data remains in your GCS bucket.

5. Order minimums and volume

  • Minimum purchase — 5 licences per order for CloudM Migrate or other CloudM modules.
  • CloudM Migrate maximum purchase — you can purchase up to 50 user licences via the self-service portal. To purchase over 50 licences, contact sales@cloudm.io.
  • CloudM Migrate volume pricing — for larger migration projects exceeding 2,500 entities, contact sales@cloudm.io or your Account Manager for a bespoke quote.
