Profile Display Order allows you to control exactly what information is visible on a user's profile and the vertical order in which it appears within the CloudM platform. Navigate here via Directory > Profile Fields > Profile Display Order.
By customizing the display order, you can surface critical Organization Details (such as a primary desk extension) at the top of a profile or hide sensitive internal fields for specific Organizational Units or Smart Teams.
Managing Visibility via Precedence
Just like profile data, visibility settings follow the CloudM precedence hierarchy. You must first "flip the switch" to manage the layout for a specific container:
- Smart Teams: Set to Enable to "claim" the layout control. This will override any OU settings for all team members. Use Disable to let the display settings "pass through" to the next layer.
- Organizational Units: Settings are inherited from the parent OU unless you select "Explicitly set Profile Display Order." This acts as the default fallback layout.
How to Customize the Profile Layout
1. Show or Hide Elements
To determine which fields are visible to users:
- Select your target OU or Smart Team from the left-hand menu.
- Activate the automation (check Explicitly set or Enable).
- Check the box next to a field to Show it, or uncheck it to Hide it.
2. Reorder Fields
Use the Up and Down arrows to set the vertical priority. Fields at the top of the list appear first on the user's profile page.
Note: While you can toggle the visibility of Notes, Organization, and Photo elements, their physical position on the profile is fixed by the system layout.
3. Save Changes
Click Save at the top right. Changes are reflected within the CloudM interface immediately for all users in that container.
