Delegation allows you to give a user access to view, create, edit, and delete items on behalf of another user. CloudM Automate supports delegation for both mail and calendar.
Prerequisites
- Both the delegator and delegate accounts must be active.
- Neither account can require a password change on next sign in. An error will be returned if this condition is not met.
- Delegation must be enabled in Google Workspace Admin before it can be configured in CloudM Automate. Refer to Google's instructions for more information. Note: it can take up to two hours for changes to propagate.
How to access delegation
You can configure delegation from a user's profile page or from search results.
From a user's profile page
- Navigate to Directory > Users and select the user.
- Select More actions.
- Select Delegate access to delegate email, or Delegate calendar to delegate calendar.
From search results
- Use the search bar to find the users you want to configure delegation for.
- Select all the users you want to action. Selected users will be highlighted in orange.
- Select Actions.
- Select Delegate access or Delegate calendar.
Delegate access (mail)
Selecting Delegate access allows you to configure mailbox delegation in two directions:
- Incoming — give other users access to the mailbox of the user you are editing.
- Outgoing — give the user you are editing access to another user's mailbox.
Add the required users and select Apply.
Delegate calendar
Selecting Delegate calendar allows you to configure calendar delegation in two directions:
- Incoming — give other users access to the calendar of the user you are editing. You can set the level of access to Free/Busy Reader, Reader, Writer, or Owner.
- Outgoing — give the user you are editing access to another user's calendar. Select the level of access, the target user, and then the specific calendar you want to share.
Select Apply to confirm.
Viewing delegated accounts
CloudM Automate can list the delegates for an account, but cannot show a list of accounts that a user has been delegated access to. This is a Google API limitation — the API only supports listing delegates for a given account, not the reverse.
