There may be occasions where you want to bulk migrate users to Cloud Storage, rather than archiving them via the CloudM Automate Offboarding Workflows. An example of this could be that your company has merged with another that has legacy user data, or you simply want to move your previously stored data to Cloud Storage (as it may be cheaper than your current option). CloudM Migrate gives you the ability to carry out this bulk migration.
The Archive > Data Import from CloudM Migrate screen allows you to import a user from another Cloud Storage bucket into Archive, so that it can be restored to a current user in CloudM Automate.
To add a Cloud Storage bucket (to import from)
- In CloudM Automate, navigate to Archive > Configure.
- Select the + Add configuration button.
- Configure the storage bucket as described in Configuring Archive in CloudM Automate (Google / Microsoft) article, using the required settings for the existing bucket that you have bulk migrated to.
- Set Retention Policies, if necessary, or set all values to Indefinite.
- Select Test Connection to check that the connection details are valid.
- If the credentials entered do not match the bucket name, you will be notified of the error and should rectify before testing the connection again.
- Set Retention Policies, if necessary, or set all values to Indefinite.
- Select Save to confirm the changes.
- Navigate to Archive > Data Import from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the required Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- Select Re-Populate User Table.
- You will not be able to initiate another task until the user table has been populated.
- You can add multiple Cloud Storage buckets and they will be displayed, by name, tabbed at the top of the screen.
- You can quickly navigate between buckets with the current bucket displayed in bold and underlined.
To refresh the user table
- In CloudM Automate, navigate to Archive > Data Import from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the Google Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- Select Re-Populate User Table to make sure you have the latest user list.
You will not be able to initiate another task until the user table has been re-populated.
To import all users
- In CloudM Automate, navigate to Archive > Data Import from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the required Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- Select the Import All button.
- A confirmation box will appear warning you that Import All can take a significant amount of time and resources. If you'd like to proceed click Yes.
- Whilst the import all task is running you can't re-populate the user table or schedule any further import tasks.
- In the user table, the Import Status field will display that the user is either Not Imported, Preparing or Importing. Users who are Not Importing are in the queue to be imported. Users who are Preparing will shortly begin to import. Users who are Importing are actively being imported into Archive.
- You can view the status of your import all task by selecting the View Imports button.
- Once a user is completed their Import Status will update to either Completed or Failed. If a user has failed a Retry button is displayed for you to queue the user to be retried.
- You can stop the import task at any time by clicking Cancel Import All. Any users with the Status Importing will complete before the task stops.
- You will now see the imported users displayed in the table on the Archive > Restoration screens, where the user's data will be indexed and available to restore to a current CloudM Automate user.
To import a select user or users
- In CloudM Automate, navigate to Archive > Data Import from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the required Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- You can use the search bar to search for a specific user OR filter the table by user status.
- If you want to import a specific user or users place a tick in the checkbox next to their email address.
- You can't tick the checkbox next to users who are already in the queue to be imported (Import Status - Waiting) or who have already been successfully imported (Import Status - Completed) or uses who have failed (Import Status - Failed).
- Once the user or users are selected, select the Import Selected button.
- You will now see the imported users displayed in the table on the Archive > Restoration screens, where the user's data will be indexed and available to restore to a current CloudM Automate user. Please note: Once a user has been imported, they can’t be re-imported.
Import History
- You can view a list of your historic and current imports by selecting the Import History button.
This table shows you the Count - Number of users who were part of the import, Date - The date the import was triggered, Created by - The user who triggered the import, Status - either Waiting, Running, Completed or Cancelled.
Please note: You can't import users from an external domain into Archive.
