Profile Mandatory Fields

Mandatory fields force users to add information to specific fields before allowing them to use CloudM Automate. If SSO is enabled, then login will be blocked until the required fields have been completed.

The biggest advantage of using Mandatory Fields is that the process of onboarding a new user becomes a lot quicker for administrators. You can simply create the user and assign them to a OU or Smart Team without needing to fill out a user's personal details, saving you time.

The configuration can either be inherited from the parent Organizational Unit (or Smart Team), or can be set explicitly per OU (or Smart Team).

To configure mandatory fields (on the Profile Fields screen):

  1. Select Directory > Profile Fields,
  2. Select either the Org Units or Smart Teams tab and choose the OU or team you would like to edit,
  3. Select the Profile Mandatory Fields tab,
  4. Set to Inherit from "Parent OU name"
  5. Mark the checkbox next to the fields you want to make mandatory.
  6. Click Save at the top right to apply your changes.

To configure mandatory fields (from the OU or Smart Team profile):

  1. Select Directory > Org Units or Automate > Smart Teams,
  2. Select the OU or Smart Team that you want to edit to display the profile panel,
  3. Select Actions and then Configure
  4. The OU or Smart Team will be pre-selected,
  5. Select the Profile Mandatory Fields tab,
  6. Set to Inherit from "Parent OU name"
  7. Mark the checkbox next to the fields you want to make mandatory.
  8. Click Save at the top right to apply your changes.
