Advanced Options for Microsoft 365 - Destination Platform

This quick start guide provides you with the basic information to configure CloudM Migrate for a migration from Microsoft 365. It is highly recommended that you read the application documentation in full for your platforms in order to understand all of the options available to you during a migration. While the default options are recommended for the majority of organisations CloudM Migrate gives users the ability to customise their migration experience. The following are some of the Advanced Options available to customers migrating to Microsoft 365. Changing some of these options can change the way data is migrated.

SharePoint Online

SharePoint Migration API - SharePoint Migration API is recommended for all migrations to SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. For more information see the article here.

SharePoint Storage (dynamic) - Microsoft’s Import Migration API requires the use of an Azure container for temporary storage. When (Office 365) is selected files and manifests will be uploaded to containers provided by Microsoft. (Azure Hosted) allows you to provide your own storage/containers.

CloudM takes a snapshot of your destination using the Export Migration API which utilises storage containers. 'Storage Account Name' and 'Storage Account Key' are required for both (Office 365 and Azure Hosted).

Storage Account Name (dynamic) - The name of the Azure storage account.

Storage Account Key (dynamic) - The access key for the Azure storage account.

Retry Backoff (seconds) - SharePoint Migration API Retry Backoff in seconds.

SharePoint Admin Url - The Url for the SharePoint admin center e.g. https://tenant-admin.sharepoint.com

Timeout - The timeout that will apply to communications with the SharePoint server.

Preserve File Created and Modified Dates - Preserve the Original File Created and Modified Dates.

Provision Sites - Provision any Sites that do not exist.

Hybrid Environment - Allows a custom 'SharePoint Admin Url' and 'SharePoint My Sites Url' to be entered for hybrid migration.

SharePoint Storage - Microsoft’s Import Migration API requires the use of an Azure container for temporary storage. When (Office 365) is selected files and manifests will be uploaded to containers provided by Microsoft. Azure Hosted allows you to provide your own storage/containers.

CloudM takes a snapshot of your destination using the Export Migration API which utilises storage containers. 'Storage Account Name' and 'Storage Account Key' are required for both (Office 365 and Azure Hosted).

Retry Count - SharePoint Migration API Retry Count

Retry Count - The number of times an operation will be attempted before failing.

Truncate Folders and Files - Attempt to truncate folders and files to fall within the 400 characters limit.

Orphaned Items Folder - Optionally place all failed truncated folders in the specified 'Orphan Items Folder'. Leave empty to fail migration if folders can not be truncated.

Provision Sites Timeout Check - The maximum period of time used to check if a OneDrive site has been provisioned.

Patch Permissions - Add/Update/Delete permissions for existing items. If disabled, only new permissions will be applied to existing items (see documentation).

Include Document Metadata - Migrate standard document metadata, as well as Text, Boolean, Number and Datetime custom metadata.

Email

Max Message Size - The maximum message size (in bytes) that will be migrated.

Use Chunked HTTP Web Requests - When creating Mail items in Exchange, use HTTP web request chunking to increase performance. WARNING: some hosted Exchange environments do not support this method of communication.

Strip Received Headers - Strip any 'Received' headers and add a single 'Received' header with a value the same as the 'Date' header.

Recoverable Items Destination - When migrating items from the recoverable items folders, choose whether to place them in Recoverable Items or in the Mailbox.

Calendar

Exchange 2010/Office 365 Calendar Timezone - The default timezone to use with appointments when migrating to Exchange 2010/Office 365 when the timezone is not identified by other means.

Appointment Body Type - Identifies how the appointment body content is formatted. If left undefined it will be assigned based on appointment HtmlContent or TextContent properties. If set to 'Best' the body will be formatted based on the richest available content.

Microsoft Teams/Group

Timeout - The timeout for operations with the server.

Maximum Results Per Request - The maximum number of results to return for individual queries.

Provision Office 365 Group Timeout Check - The maximum period of time used to check if an Office 365 Group has been created.

Default Document Library Name - When migrating Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Groups, documents will be migrated to this library. For non-English language sites this should be changed to the default name in the site language (e.g "Dokumente" for German-language sites, "Documenti" for Italian)

Teams Direct Migration - If the Teams site does not exist in the destination, keep this off so the migration uses a Prestage Teams location. This is a faster migration and more user friendly. If the destination Team site already exists, turn this on to prevent an error from occurring.

Migrate Team Channel Tabs - Migrate Team channel tabs such as: Web, Document (Word, Excel, PDF, Powerpoint). For more information, see article 'Team Channel Tabs'

Retry Count - The number of times an operation will be attempted before failing.

Create Office 365 Group - Create Office 365 Group if it does not exist. If a group is exists in the source but not in the destination and this is turned off the migration will fail.

Test Office 365 Group Email - The email address of an Office 365 Group that already exists.

Chat Message Library Name - When migrating 'Microsoft Teams' and 'Export Chat Message Type' is set to 'Document' or 'Email and Document', the channel conversation history document will be migrated to this library.

Finalize Teams Direct Migration - Mark Teams Direct Migration as completed. Migrating Teams data with this option enabled will take Team out of the migration mode. This option opens the team and channel resources for general use by team members. No further migrations can be performed against finalized team.

Rehydrate Teams Private Chats - Update Teams Private Chats with latest 10 exported messages.

Public Folders

Nest Public Folders - Nest Public Folders under a specific top-level Public Folder.

Transfer and Performance

Retry Count - The number of times an operation will be attempted before failing.

Timeout - The timeout that will apply to communications with the Exchange server.

Max Wait Time - Specify the maximum time that a wait operation can wait between exponential backoff retry attempts.

Use X-AnchorMailbox Header - When using application impersonation, use the X-AnchorMailbox header to improve performance.
