CloudM Migrate only supports migrating Microsoft Team Channel Tabs from Microsoft 365 to Microsoft 365 domains.
Supported content
The following content is copied from the source to the destination:
- Website tabs
- Document tabs
Unsupported content
All other tab types are not configurable, as detailed here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/teams-configuring-builtin-tabs and, therefore, are skipped on export. Tabs that are not exported will be reported in the logs.
Migrate Microsoft Teams Channel Tabs
To migrate the Channel Tabs, you are going to need to complete 2 migration passes between the two Microsoft 365 domains - the first to migrate the Microsoft Team, and the second to migrate the Channel Tabs to the Microsoft Team. Please also refer to the Microsoft 365 to Microsoft 365 migration (self-hosted) guide.
Migration pass 1:
- On the Source Platform tab, select Advanced Settings and make sure that the Office 365 Groups > Migrate Teams Channel Tabs setting is set to Disabled.
- On the User tab, add the Teams that you want to migrate, and ensure that they are ticked. You will also need to place ticks in the Drive checkbox for each Team.
- On the Config Settings tab, select Advanced Settings and make sure the Reporting > Record Document Mappings setting is set to Enabled. This ensures that task attachments can be migrated.
- When migrating document tabs, please ensure these documents reside in your team (and not outside the team in a personal OneDrive or another site) or the tab will not be migrated.
- Continue with the migration.
Migration pass 2:
- On the Source Platform tab, select Advanced Settings and make sure that the Office 365 Groups > Migrate Teams Channel Tabs setting is set to Enabled.
- On the User tab, add the Teams that you want to migrate, and ensure that they are ticked. This time, you will need to make sure that the Drive checkbox is checked for each Team.
- Once the migration is completed, navigate to the destination Microsoft Teams and see if the Team and Tabs have been migrated across.
Troubleshooting
If a Channel Tab migration has either not completed successfully or only partly migrated:
- Delete the Channel Tab in Microsoft Teams,
- Clear your migration history in CloudM Migrate. This is important as CloudM Migrate will believe that the Channel Tabs and all related items have been successfully migrated in a previous pass, and will skip them to avoid a duplication on the destination.
- Run the migration again.
If you can see documents have been migrated as part of a Document Channel Tab migration, but you are unable to see a preview:
- The migration has been successful and the document can still be downloaded and viewed in Microsoft Teams as usual.
