There may be occasions where you want to bulk migrate users to Cloud Storage, rather than archiving them via the CloudM Manage Offboarding Workflows. An example of this could be that your company has merged with another that has legacy user data, or you simply want to move your previously stored data to Cloud Storage (as it may be cheaper than your current option). CloudM Migrate gives you the ability to carry out this bulk migration.
The Archive > Import Data from CloudM Migrate screen allows you to import a user from another Cloud Storage bucket into Archive, so that it can be restored to a current user in CloudM Manage.
To add a Cloud Storage bucket (to import from)
- In CloudM Manage, navigate to Archive > Configure.
- Select the + Add configuration button.
- Configure the storage bucket as described in Configuring Archive in CloudM Manage (Google / Microsoft) article, using the required settings for the existing bucket that you have bulk migrated to.
- Set Retention Policies, if necessary, or set all values to Indefinite.
- Select Test Connection to check that the connection details are valid.
- If the credentials entered do not match the bucket name, you will be notified of the error and should rectify before testing the connection again.
- Set Retention Policies, if necessary, or set all values to Indefinite.
- Select Save to confirm the changes.
- Navigate to Archive > Import Data from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the required Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list..
- Select Re-Populate User Table.
- At this stage, you will not be able to view any other details apart from the Email address of the user.
- You can add multiple Cloud Storage buckets and they will be displayed, by name, tabbed at the top of the screen.
- You can quickly navigate between buckets with the current bucket displayed in bold and underlined.
To refresh the user table
- In CloudM Manage, navigate to Archive > Import Data from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the Google Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- Select Re-Populate User Table to make sure you have the latest user list.
To import a user or users
- In CloudM Manage, navigate to Archive > Import Data from CloudM Migrate.
- Select the required Cloud Storage bucket from the tabbed list.
- Select the user or users that you want to import by placing a tick in the checkbox next to their email address.
- If you want to select all users, you can click on the checkbox at the top of the table. Then, you can choose between Select all (to select every user in the bucket) or Select all on the page (to only select the 10 results displayed on the page).
- Once the user or users are selected, select the Import "x" Items button (where x will either be replaced by the number of users selected or "all" if all users have been selected).
- A confirmation screen will be displayed, specifying the number of users to import. Select Confirm to continue the process.
- In the user table, the Status field will display that the user is Importing. Once the process is finished, the status will change again to Completed and the Date Imported field will be populated.
- You will now see the imported users displayed in the table on the Archive > Restore screen, where the user's data will be indexed and available to restore to a current CloudM Manage user.
