Domain Settings Overview

The Domain Settings section (Settings > Domain Settings) allows you to monitor the synchronisation between CloudM Automate and your domain, and provides a range of synchronisation actions as detailed below.

Admin account and notifications

The first section of Domain Settings allows you to configure the admin account you want to oversee the health of your CloudM domain. You can also configure which users receive domain notifications and set the specific types of notifications you want them to receive.

Domain sync

The Domain Actions section shows when the last domain sync occurred and whether it was successful. A Global Sync runs automatically every 48 hours after the initial synchronisation.

To manually force a sync between automatic Global Syncs, select Request sync.

  • Depending on when you last synced, the system may prevent manual syncing in some instances.
  • If the sync fails or an error occurs, select the More information link to view further details. You can also see areas that have successfully synced (green tick icon) or are currently synchronising (grey progress wheel icon).
  • If a sync error relates to the License Information Sync, you will see a description and a link to the logs.
  • Note: the global sync may fail if the email address set for the Admin Account contains mixed case characters. Use lower case characters by default.

How sync works

When you or your users make changes to profiles within CloudM Automate, this information is synced back to Google Workspace immediately. For example, if a user adds an address or telephone number, this will be available in their Google Workspace profile straight away.

Data inherited by users from Organisational Units is not currently synced back to Google Workspace. If an address is added to an OU and pushed to users, that data is available in CloudM Automate only. Tags and employment type are also CloudM Automate-only fields.

Push profile changes from Google Workspace

You can configure CloudM Automate to monitor for changes to the Suspended Status on user profiles in Google Workspace. These changes will be pushed to CloudM Automate automatically, without needing to wait for a Global Sync or initiate a manual sync. This option is disabled by default. Turn on the toggle in Domain Actions to turn it on. For more information, refer to the "Push" user profile changes directly from Google Workspace to CloudM Automate article.
