The Backup interface has been rebuilt to match the rest of Automate. Your policies, your data and your schedules are unchanged. This is a change to the interface, not to how Backup works.
The policies table
Before
After
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Active | A toggle for whether the policy is running |
| Policy name | The name you gave it |
| Policy type | User or Shared Drive |
| Description | The description you gave it |
| Coverage | What the policy applies to |
| Actions | Edit policy, View assignments, Delete policy |
A policy count is shown in the top right of the table.
Searching and sorting
Search across policy names and descriptions. Sort by newest first, oldest first, A to Z, Z to A, active or inactive.
Opening a policy
Select the row, or choose Edit policy from the actions menu. Both open the policy details.
Deleting a policy
Choose Delete policy from the actions menu and confirm at the dialog.
When a policy changes
- Adding a data type, for example adding Drive to a mail-only policy, starts a bulk backup of the new type. Existing types carry on incrementally.
- Removing a data type means that data is purged once the previous policy's retention period expires.
Common questions
I cannot save a policy
See Troubleshooting Backup Policy Errors.
Assigning a policy
Creating a policy does not protect anything on its own. It has to be assigned. Assignment is unchanged in this release, so see Assign a backup policy.
