Backup restoration status

The Backup interface has been rebuilt to match the rest of Automate. Your policies, your data and your schedules are unchanged. This is a change to the interface, not to how Backup works.

What has changed

The functionality is the same. The Restoration status page has been rebuilt.

Before

the previous screen

After

The Restoration status page shows every restoration carried out on your domain, including those still running. Go to Backup > Restoration status.

At the top you get a quick summary: restorations in progress, restorations in the last 30 days, and restorations in total.

The page has two tabs: Users and Shared Drives.

The users table

ColumnShows
UserName, email address and profile image
TargetThe user the data was restored to
DateWhen the restoration was triggered
Total countHow many items were restored
Data typeThe types of data restored
StatusThe state of the restoration

The shared drives table

ColumnShows
Shared driveThe drive name
TargetWhere the data was restored to
DateWhen the restoration was triggered
Total countHow many items were restored
StatusThe state of the restoration

Sorting, filtering and refreshing

Both tables show 10 rows at a time, sorted with the most recent first. You can sort by oldest or newest, and filter by Status to show only failed restorations, for example.

The Refresh control pulls the latest state into the table without reloading the page. Use it while a restoration is running.

Looking at a single restoration

Select a row to open the detail panel on the right. It shows:

  • Restoration status
  • Mail items restored
  • Drive files restored and Drive folders restored
  • Calendar events restored, for primary calendars
  • Contacts restored, for primary contacts
  • Chats restored, the number of direct messages available in the HTML file
  • Chat attachments restored, the attachments restored to the chosen Google Drive
  • Source, the backed up user and the data types included
  • Executor, the administrator who triggered the restoration
  • Target, where the data was restored to

Where chats were part of the restoration, a Download button appears in the panel and creates the file on your machine. The download link expires after 14 days.

Common questions

My restoration is not in the list

Check the Status filter, and check you are on the right tab. User and shared drive restorations are listed separately.

The Download button is greyed out

It is only enabled where chats were selected as part of that restoration.

The chat download link has stopped working

Chat download links expire after 14 days. Run the restoration again to generate a new one.
