Backup status

The Backup interface has been rebuilt to match the rest of Automate. Your policies, your data and your schedules are unchanged. This is a change to the interface, not to how Backup works.

The Backup status page shows the state of every backup in your domain, user by user and drive by drive. Go to Backup > Backup status.

The page has two tabs: Users and Shared Drives.

The users table

Before

After

Column Shows
User Name, email address and profile image
Policy The backup policy the user is on
Latest backup When the user was last backed up
Coverage & Status The item types of that backup and colour represents the status

Finding a user

Use the search box to find someone by name or email address. It lists matching users as you type.

Filter the table by:

  • Organisational unit that the user is assigned to
  • Status, for example initial failed or succeeded
  • Requires Action by item type
  • Policy the user is assigned to

The shared drives table

Before

After

Column Shows
Shared drive The drive name
Policy The backup policy the drive is on
Latest backup When the drive was last backed up

Finding a shared drive

  • Requires Action by item type
  • Policy the user is assigned too

Exporting Data

Select the User Tab and the Export button

Select the Shared Drive Tab and the export button

Sorting and paging

Both tables show 10 rows at a time and are sorted with the most recent first. You can sort by name, or by oldest and newest.

Refreshing

The Refresh control pulls the latest status into the table without reloading the page. Use it while a backup is running rather than reloading the browser.

Looking at a single backup

Select a row to open the detail panel on the right, which shows the full state of that user's or drive's backup.

Common questions

The table is empty

Check your filters first. If no filters are applied and the table is still empty, no users or drives have a backup policy assigned. See Backup policies.

A backup shows as failed

Open the row to see the detail. If it relates to policy configuration or permissions, see Troubleshooting Backup Policy Errors.

The status looks out of date

Use the refresh control rather than reloading the page.
