CloudM Continuity licences are annual. As your licence approaches its expiry date, in-product warnings will alert you. This article explains the expiry timeline, what happens at each stage, and how renewal works.
Expiry timeline
| Stage | When | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Advance warning | 30 days before expiry | A warning banner appears in the product. The banner increases in urgency as the expiry date approaches. |
| Expiry day | Expiry date | The licence expires. The 7-day grace period begins. |
| Grace period | Days 1–7 after expiry | Sync continues with a prominent warning banner showing the number of grace days remaining. |
| Grace period ends | Day 8 after expiry | Sync operations are paused. Your tenant becomes read-only. Existing synced data is retained. |
In-product warnings only
All expiry warnings are shown as banners within the product. No email notifications are sent. Check the product regularly as your expiry date approaches.
What happens during the grace period
- Sync continues — all active policies keep running as normal
- You can still make changes — edit policies, manage connections, invite users
- A warning banner is shown with the number of grace days remaining
What happens after the grace period
If your licence is not renewed within the 7-day grace period:
- Sync operations are paused — no new sync jobs are executed
- Data is retained — all data already synced to Google Workspace remains in place. CloudM Continuity does not delete destination data.
- Tenant is read-only — you can still sign in, view the dashboard, and review status and audit logs, but you cannot create or modify policies
- An expired licence message is displayed with instructions to contact CloudM or your partner for renewal
Your data is safe
An expired licence never causes data loss. All previously synced data remains in Google Workspace. When the licence is renewed, sync resumes from where it left off.
How renewal works
Licence renewal is handled by CloudM. There is no self-service renewal option.
- Contact CloudM to arrange renewal before (or shortly after) your expiry date
- CloudM processes the renewal and sets a new expiry date
- At renewal, you can optionally upgrade your tier, adjust user limits, or add data types
- Once processed, the licence update is reflected in your tenant within 1 hour
- If sync was paused due to expiry, it resumes on the next cycle after the renewed licence is detected
Licence revocation
In rare cases (e.g. non-payment or contract termination), CloudM may revoke a licence. Revocation is different from expiry:
| Aspect | Expiry | Revocation |
|---|---|---|
| Grace period | 7 days | None — sync stops immediately |
| Warning | 30 days advance warning (in-product banner) | No advance warning |
| Tenant access | Read-only after grace period | Read-only immediately |
| Message shown | Expired licence message with renewal instructions | Generic message — contact CloudM |
| Synced data | Retained | Retained |
| Resolution | Contact CloudM or your partner to renew | Contact CloudM to resolve the underlying issue |

Plan ahead for renewal
Start the renewal conversation with your CloudM partner at least 30 days before expiry. This ensures there is no disruption to your sync operations.
