What is CloudM Continuity?
CloudM Continuity is a business continuity solution that bridges Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It keeps a synchronised copy of your most recent Microsoft 365 mail data in Google Workspace so that when an M365 outage strikes, your organisation can continue working without interruption.
In a nutshell
CloudM Continuity acts as an active insurance policy for your email. Unlike traditional backups that sit idle until a disaster strikes, Continuity syncs your recent M365 mail to Google Workspace on a regular schedule, giving you a ready-to-use "hot standby" that your team can switch to immediately.
Why CloudM Continuity exists
Organisations that depend on Microsoft 365 face a growing problem: outages are frequent, costly, and increasingly subject to regulatory scrutiny.
- Frequent outages — In 2025 alone there were 16 major global M365 incidents, totalling 94 hours of downtime and affecting approximately 850 million users.
- Financial impact — 98% of organisations report that a single hour of downtime costs over $100,000. In sectors like energy, that figure can reach $2.9 million per event.
- Regulatory pressure — Regulations such as DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) and NIS2 now require organisations to demonstrate rapid failover capabilities. Traditional backups with 24–48 hour recovery times are no longer sufficient.
CloudM Continuity addresses all three of these challenges by providing automated, scheduled data synchronisation with a clear failover path.
The Resilience Loop
CloudM Continuity operates on a three-phase cycle known as the Resilience Loop:
| Phase | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Sync | Your recent Microsoft 365 mail data is synced to Google Workspace on a schedule you choose (weekly, daily, or hourly). The initial sync covers the last 30 days of mail, and ongoing delta syncs keep it up to date. |
| 2. Failover | When M365 goes down, your team simply logs into Google Workspace and continues working. No scripts, no manual processes. |
| 3. Recover (coming soon) | Once M365 is back, a Reverse Recovery Sync will automatically identify any emails sent or received in Google during the outage and push them back to Microsoft 365. This phase is planned for a future release. |
This loop ensures that your data is always protected, your team is always productive, and your M365 environment is fully restored after any disruption.
What is included at launch (MVP)
CloudM Continuity launches in April 2026 with a focused feature set:
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|

Future roadmap
Support for additional data types (Drive, Calendar, Contacts) and customer-hosted deployment options are planned for future releases.
Who is CloudM Continuity for?
CloudM Continuity is designed for organisations that:
- Rely heavily on Microsoft 365 for email and communication
- Cannot afford prolonged downtime due to financial or reputational risk
- Need to meet regulatory requirements such as DORA or NIS2
- Want to reduce single-vendor dependency by diversifying across cloud platforms
It is particularly suited for enterprises in financial services, healthcare, legal, and other highly regulated sectors.
How CloudM Continuity is different
| Traditional backup | CloudM Continuity | |
|---|---|---|
| Approach | Passive archive; data sits in a vault | Active hot standby; data is live and usable |
| Recovery time | Hours to days | Immediate — users switch to Google Workspace |
| Data freshness | Point-in-time snapshot | Continuously synced (up to hourly) |
| Post-outage | Manual reconciliation required | Reverse Recovery Sync (planned for future release) |
| Compliance | May not meet DORA/NIS2 restoration mandates | Hourly tier designed for regulatory compliance |
