Resetting the Admin Password for CloudM Migrate Self-Hosted

If you have lost or forgotten the password for the primary administrative account in CloudM Migrate Self-Hosted, you cannot reset it via a "Forgot Password" link on the login screen. Instead, you must modify the existing installation on the Windows Server to overwrite the credentials.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Server Access: You must have administrative access (RDP or physical access) to the Windows Server where CloudM Migrate is installed.
  • Account Details: You must know the exact email address of the specific admin account you wish to recover.
  • ⚠️ Warning: Service Interruption

The CloudM Migrate service will restart during this process. Any active migrations will be ungracefully stopped.

    • Migration progress will be lost.
    • Migration reports will not be generated.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Access the Server
Log in to the Windows Server hosting the CloudM Migrate instance.
  2. Open Application Settings
Navigate to the Windows application management console.
    • Modern Windows Server (2016+): Go to Start > Settings > Apps, then select Apps & features (or Installed apps on newer versions).
    • Classic View: Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Locate CloudM Migrate
Find CloudM Migrate in the list of installed applications.
  4. Launch the Modification Wizard
Select the application and click Modify (or Change). This will launch the CloudM Migrate installation wizard.

  5. Select 'Add or Remove Features'
Proceed through the wizard until you reach the features selection screen.

  6. New Credentials
On the User Configuration screen, you will reset the credentials.

Important: Use the Original Email Address

You must enter the exact same email address as the original account. If you enter a different email address, the system will create a new user profile rather than resetting the existing one. Consequently, you will lose immediate access to previous Migration Projects and Batches (although they can be refreshed).

Once the email is confirmed, fill in the fields:

    • Password: Enter your desired new password.

Requirement: At least 12 characters, including one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one special character, and a number.

Note: If the fields are greyed out, toggle Please select installation parameters > Basic, then toggle back to Advanced. This refreshes the form and makes the fields editable.

  7. Apply Changes
Continue clicking Install to complete the installation wizard. Once the wizard finishes, the service will restart with the updated credentials.
  8. Verify Access
Open the CloudM Migrate web interface and log in using the original email address and the new password.
