Google Workspace: A task was canceled

This guide addresses the "A task was canceled" error, a non-retryable exception that can happen during Google Workspace migrations. Follow the steps below to quickly resolve it.

1. Problem Description

When migrating from a Google Workspace source, you might see this non-retryable error:

Non-retryable error executing action: 'gmail/get' cloud.solutions.Common.NonRetryableException
A task was canceled.

2. Cause

This is typically a temporary, item-based error that occurs when the Google server fails to export a specific piece of data. It can happen during the migration of any Google Workspace service, such as Gmail or Google Calendar. The error indicates that a particular item couldn't be retrieved, causing the migration task to be canceled.

3. Solution

To fix this, simply remigrate the user.

  • Step 1: In the CloudM Migrate interface, select the user who experienced the error.
  • Step 2: Start a new migration for that user.

Remigrating the user should resolve the error completely or at least significantly reduce how often it occurs.
