Basic Installation

A basic CloudM installation consists of a single server hosting primary and secondary services, along with Redis and PostgreSQL. This setup is ideal for smaller migrations, supporting up to 20 concurrent users based on our system requirements.

Windows Automatic Updates: It's important to disable Windows Automatic Updates on your CloudM Migrate servers. If automatic updates are enabled and an update is installed requiring a restart while a migration is in progress, the migration will be ungracefully stopped. This means migration reports won't be fully written, and you'll need to restart the migration process from where it left off.

This guide outlines the installation steps:

  1. Download the latest installer from the Migrate Release Notes page.

  2. Launch the installer on the target server.

  3. Agree to the terms and conditions, then click Next.

  4. Configure the installation:

    • Select Basic as the installation type.

    • Ensure Install PostgreSQL is checked.

    • Enter an email address and password (these will be your login credentials for the web interface).

    • Leave other settings as default.

  5. Click Install to begin the installation.

  6. After clicking Install, you will be presented with an option to Migrate SQL Server databases.

Note: This option is specifically for users upgrading from Migrate 3 to Migrate 4. Refer to our detailed guide on the CloudM Migrate 4 upgrade process for a full overview. Only select this option if you are performing this particular upgrade.

After completing the installation, you can log in to CloudM Migrate using the credentials you specified. To do so, open a web browser on the same server and navigate to https://cloudm.local.
