Google Workspace - Source Settings

This article outlines the settings available for Google Workspace as a source.

Email

  • Gmail API filter override: When using the Gmail API to export email, use the provided filter to override other tool settings. Leave empty to auto generate the filter. Note: this will override the following settings: Date Ranges, Folders and Excluded Folders.
  • Enable Gmail discovery throttle: Enable request per second/minute limits for Gmail discovery service.
  • Gmail discovery request per second limit: Gmail discovery maximum requests per second before throttling.
  • Gmail discovery request per 100 seconds limit: Gmail discovery maximum requests per 100 seconds before throttling.
  • Use limited scopes: Use limited scopes requires the following scopes to be enabled: 'https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.labels' and 'https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly'

Calendar

  • Migrate meeting links: Migrate meeting links within appointments.

Document

  • Migrate all Drive items: Migrate all Drive items necessary for full-fidelity migration. Setting this to false may result in folder layout discrepancies and sharing issues.
  • Exclude external permissions: Only migrate permissions from users/groups that are members of any domain belonging to the source tenant.
  • Exclude explicit domain permissions: Do not migrate any ACLs from any of the specified domains.
  • Check external drive sharing: Check if external domain sharing is enabled when migrating from Google Drive to Drive. This can be disabled if Drive sharing is disabled and you have whitelisted the destination domain in the source domain.
  • Migrate items only from listed users: Migrate only Drive items from those users listed in the Items to migrate list.
    • Prerequisites
      • Migrate All Drive Items needs to be enabled for this setting to be enabled.
      • If the option is enabled, you should ensure that the user list, address replacements and groups are fully correct before the first migration.
      • If you want to migrate folders from users other than those being migrated, be sure to include them on the users page but do not select them for migration.
    • Context
      • Folder structures within the migrated users MyDrive will be maintained by transferring ownership of any folder not owned by any of the listed users to the migrating user first to process the folder.
    • Warnings
      • If you are migrating all users from the source, then this option should not be used.
      • If this option is enabled and then a subsequent migration is performed with it disabled and/or more users are added to the user list, duplicate folders for some users will be created.
  • Migrate contents of non-owned folders: This setting allows the migration of items owned by non-migrating users, provided they are "anchored" within a folder structure or shortcut owned by a migrating user (MyDrive or an owned folder). Because this configuration fundamentally changes copy logic, impacts performance, and requires specific destination settings, it is critical to review the detailed examples, watchpoints, and warnings in the full guide: Setting Explanation: Migrate contents of non-owned folders.
  • Migrate orphaned folders: Migrate orphaned Google Drive folders that have no parents. This can cause a migration to take longer due to an increase in the required number of requests. Note that orphaned files are always migrated.
  • Preserve modified date: When migrating Google Drive items, attempt to preserve the last modified date in the source domain.
  • Maximum results per request (Drive API): The maximum number of results to return for individual queries to the Drive API.
  • Ignore shared drive file and folder ACLs: Whether to ignore ACLs for individual files and folders contained within Shared Drives.
  • Export documents path folder: Setting 'Export documents path folder' to true will export the folder specified in 'Documents path' on the users page.
  • Migrate file comments: Migrate file comments from Google Drive to Google Drive.
  • Maximum results per request (comments API): The maximum number of results to return for individual queries to the comments API.

Migration

  • Allow missing special folders: Permit migrations when some special folders do not exist. WARNING: this can result in missing messages if users have hidden IMAP folders.
  • Strip Google test domain: Removes the Google test domain (test-google-a.com) suffix from source email addresses, e.g. when applying address replacements to file ACLs.

User

  • Migrate account delegates: Migrate user account delegation.
  • Migrate signature: Migrate user signature settings.
  • Migrate forwarding settings: Migrate user forwarding settings.
  • Migrate aliases: Migrate account aliases.
  • Migrate POP settings: Migrate user POP email settings.
  • Migrate IMAP settings: Migrate user IMAP settings.
  • Migrate out of office: Migrate user out of office settings.
