Microsoft Exchange - Source Connection Setup

Prerequisites

  • EWS must be enabled in the Exchange environment.
  • The Exchange server must be accessible from the migration server and any secondary servers.
  • Impersonation or delegation must be configured as per the below article.

Connection Details

  • Connection name: Provide a unique name for this new source connection. This connection will be available in the Connections screen and can be reused across projects. The name can be used to identify the connection.
  • Exchange version: The version of your Exchange server.
  • Autodiscovery service URL: In order to connect to the correct server, autodiscovery is used to obtain the server information. Input the URL to the autodiscovery service for your domain. The value for your Microsoft Exchange server is like https://yourserver/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml.
  • Direct Exchange EWS URL: The EWS URL for your Exchange environment.
  • Admin username: The username of an admin account that has impersonation or delegation access over the accounts you plan to migrate.
  • Admin password: The password of the admin account.
  • Domain name: The domain you are migrating from.
  • Test username: The username of a test user to use for testing the connection.
  • Authentication method: The authentication method supported by your Exchange server.
  • Credential method: The method used to access your users.
    • Impersonation: Impersonation will be used to access the users in the migration list.
    • Delegated Access: Delegation will be used to access the users in the migration list.
    • User Credentials: The credentials of each individual user will be used to access the users in the migration list. You will need to enter the password for each user on the "Items to Migrate" step of the migration batch.
  • Use workstation credentials: Use the credentials of the logged in user of the workstation to perform migrations rather than the provided username and password. The admin username and password is still required for auto-discovery.
