Migration History

What is Migration History, and how does it work in CloudM Migrate?

When conducting migrations, the tool maintains a record of items that have been successfully migrated to the destination platforms. This ensures that if the migration fails and needs to be re-run, or if a delta migration is performed, items that have already been migrated will not be processed again. This is usually desirable and significantly speeds up subsequent migrations. However, there may be situations where it is necessary to start a migration from the beginning for a specific item or a group of items, such as when an account has been cleared in the destination system. To achieve this, the migration history for the item(s) in question must be cleared.

Duplicate Items

Irrespective of whether migration history is cleared or not, CloudM Migrate ensures that duplicate items are never created when a migration is re-run. Its main objective is to enhance the efficiency of delta migrations.

In the majority of cases, it is generally unnecessary to clear the migration history unless there has been an issue with a migration or if you wish to force the re-migration of a user's data.

How to clear the migration history

Project level history

Clearing the history at the project level will remove the migration history for all items within all batches in the migration project you are currently viewing.

To perform this action, locate and click on the ellipsis icon in the top right-hand corner of your project page. Then, choose the option "Clear migration history".

Specific Items History

This functionality enables you to remove the migration history for individual items within a migration batch.

To accomplish this, navigate to the "Items to Migrate" page within your migration batch. Select the desired users and then click on "Bulk Actions" followed by "Clear History".
